A Leap Towards Innovative Healthcare

CT University recently organised a National Symposium on "Drug Discovery: From Nature to Novel Medicine," a testament to its commitment to fostering innovation and research in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. With over 150 registrations from across India, the symposium brought together experts, researchers, and students to explore the latest advancements in drug discovery and development.

The symposium featured a competition for oral and poster presentations on various topics, including pharmacology, pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry, and pharmacognosy. A panel of esteemed judges, led by the Chairperson, Dr. Puneet Utreja, evaluated the presentations, providing valuable feedback to the participants. The event also included five workshops on cutting-edge topics such as Zebrafish model in pharmacological research, Docking methods and Simulation in drug discovery, Drosophila model in pharmacological research, and HPLC instrumentation. These workshops aimed to equip participants with the latest research methodologies and insights, enabling them to apply their knowledge in future endeavours.

The symposium was graced by Dr. Gursagar Singh Sahota, Chief Liver Transplant Surgeon, Department of Liver Transplant, DMC&H, Ludhiana, as the Chief Guest. Dr. Sahota emphasised the importance of innovative research in healthcare, highlighting the role of pharmaceutical sciences in improving patient outcomes. Arafat Ali, Assistant Manager/Nodal Officer, Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), Punjab and Chandigarh, Jan Aushadhi Kendra, was the Guest of Honour.

The event also featured expert speakers, including Dr. Rohit Bhatia, Associate Professor, Dept. of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Dr. Abhinav Anand, HOD & Associate Professor, CT Group of Institutions, South Campus, Shahpur.

The symposium was supported by the university's leadership, including Chancellor S. Charanjit Singh Channi and Vice Chancellor Dr. Abhishek Tripathi. Chancellor S. Charanjit Singh Channi expressed his pride in the university's commitment to research and innovation, while Vice Chancellor Dr. Tripathi highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in driving scientific advancements.

Dean Academics Dr. Simranjeet Kaur Gill, Director Student Welfare Er. Davinder Singh and Dr. Vir Vikram, Principal School of Pharmaceutical Sciences played key roles in organising the symposium.
