Anti-Ragging Policy

 Zero Tolerance for Ragging 

At CT University, we take a resolute stance against any form of ragging, firmly placing the welfare and safety of our students at the forefront. Our anti-ragging policy leaves no room for compromise:

 Consequences Await the Guilty 

Ragging in any shape or form is unequivocally prohibited within our hallowed premises. Those found guilty of ragging will face dire consequences that may include the cancellation of admission, suspension, rustication, or even expulsion from the Institute and Hostel.

 Legal Ramifications 

Beyond the institute-level penalties, legal action will be pursued vigorously. The law views ragging as a cognizable offense, and the Supreme Court's directive demands exemplary and stringent punishment to serve as a deterrent. Relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) come into play here, with penalties ranging from imprisonment to fines, depending on the severity of the offense. For instance, Section 323, which pertains to causing hurt, can lead to imprisonment of up to one year, fines, or both. Section 306, dealing with abetment to suicide, stipulates imprisonment of up to ten years with or without a fine. Other relevant IPC sections include 341 (wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation), 302 (murder), 307 (attempted murder), among others.

 Defining Ragging 

Ragging encompasses any act by a senior that may inflict physical or mental discomfort on a fresher. To be more specific, it includes:

1.  Physical Abuse : This includes compelling freshers to consume or engage in substances, or coercing them to change attire.

2.  Verbal Abuse : Use of derogatory language, insults, or offensive comments regarding appearance, religion, caste, family, or field of study.

3.  Forced Activities : Making freshers perform chores, attend extracurricular events, miss classes, stay up late, or engage in singing, dancing, or other activities against their will.

4.  Misbehavior with Strangers : Especially women, and any engagement with pornographic or objectionable material.

5.  Lifestyle Restrictions : Enforcing dress codes, grooming rules, or access restrictions within the hostel.

6.  Imposing Behavior Rules : Mandating modes of address, waking times, and engaging in conversational mind games to humiliate or threaten freshers.

 Friendly Interaction Encouraged 

We strongly encourage friendly interaction between freshers and seniors. Seniors are welcome to invite participation in clubs and events but should respect the voluntary nature of such involvement. Freshers should never be coerced into attending.

 Exercise Self-Restraint 

Seniors must exercise self-discipline and restraint. Avoid interactions outside public areas, visiting freshers' rooms, or inviting them to yours. Under no circumstance should freshers be compelled to perform under the guise of talent searches or interactions.

 Legal Obligation 

In accordance with the Supreme Court's directives, any instance of ragging must be reported to the local police if brought to the administration or faculty's attention. We are committed to upholding the laws of the land.

 Reporting Ragging 

We urge you to reach out to members of the Anti-ragging Committee or Anti-ragging Squads to report any ragging incident. For those who wish to remain anonymous, drop-boxes are available in the Academic Block, Hostel, and Hostel Mess for reporting witnessed or experienced ragging.
